Supplier Quality Engineer – Durable Goods 

Looking for a great opportunity to proactively work with the supply base and ensure their quality systems are set up to consistently produce 100% within specification? We are looking for a high energy person with an attention to detail who can work with our supply base and ensure APQP is implemented. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

This position reports to the Supplier Quality Manager and will provide you with the responsibilities of:

  • Working closely with the product groups to understand the new components and assemblies that will be released for production and ensuring the suppliers are ready from a quality systems standpoint – manage APQP
  • Communicating quality requirements to the suppliers and reviewing PPAP’s
  • Reporting to Senior Management on the COQ metric and the progress of all activities related to achieving the goal
  • Auditing the suppliers quality systems and ensuring they are doing what they say they are doing – diving into the detail with a hands-on approach
  • Ensuring suppliers are capable of producing within the specifications provided and the Cpk is acceptable
  • Solving supplier induced production quality issues by taking the lead, assembling the key players and driving the problem to systemic resolution including dispositioning any affected inventory
  • Issuing and following up on Corrective Action requests – ensuring satisfactory completion
  • Ensuring Gauge R&R studies, MSA and process capability studies are done correctly and reviewing the information with the suppliers
  • Working with Manufacturing Engineers in PFMEA development and Design Engineers in DFMEA development
  • Providing training in quality systems for new and existing customers
  • Conduct customer feedback surveys
  • Participating in improvement teams and driving waste out of the processes 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

An excellent candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years experience as a Quality Engineer with experience working with suppliers used for durable goods assemblies
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Must be an expert in PPAP
  • Strong understanding of measuring equipment
  • Strong understanding of ISO/TS/QS Quality Systems
  • Knowledge of calibration, inspection methods, blue print reading (GD&T), statistics, quality charting, and process capability
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills – ability to keep a level head in tense situations
  • Ability to lead improvement teams
  • Up to 25% travel is required

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree, technical discipline preferred with certifications from ASQ
  • Strong understanding of ISO Quality Systems and the ability to write and modify work instructions and policies
  • Must have experience with APQP
  • Knowledge of calibration, inspection methods, blue print reading (GD&T), statistics, quality charting, and process capability
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills – ability to keep a level head in tense situations
