Quality Manager – Machining & Assembly – Hands On 

Looking for a great opportunity to apply your quality management skills to a growing manufacturing company specializing in precision machining and assembly? We are looking for an outgoing Quality Manager that can take the quality system to a world class level. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

This position reports to the VP of Operations and will provide you with the responsibilities of:

  • Managing the day to day quality system from incoming receiving to shipping
  • Creating Cost of Quality metrics and informing senior management of the progress and what needs to be done to continually improve toward a world class quality system
  • Generating and reviewing control plans for new and existing parts/assemblies
  • Ensuring the proper gauging is in place based on process capability and historical run data
  • Following up on Corrective Action requests from customers, internal issues and supplier issues – fixing the systemic issues
  • Requesting quality data from suppliers and ensuring suppliers are providing parts that meet specification
  • Generating all the customer required quality documents
  • Ensuring Gauge R&R studies and process capability studies are done correctly
  • Working with Manufacturing Engineers in PFMEA development
  • Ensuring the quality system is ISO compliant and further develop the program using common sense
  • Providing training in quality systems for new and existing employees
  • Implementing and auditing in-process checking of parts and assemblies
  • Sharing quality data with production personnel and getting them engaged in improvement activities
  • Conduct customer feedback surveys
  • Participating in improvement teams and driving waste out of the processes 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

An excellent candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • MUST HAVE a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a technical discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Quality Engineer
  • Experience with precision machining and assembly
  • Strong understanding of measuring equipment
  • Strong understanding of ISO Quality Systems and the ability to write and modify work instructions and policies
  • Knowledge of calibration, inspection methods, blue print reading (GD&T), statistics, quality charting, and process capability
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills – ability to keep a level head in tense situations
  • Ability to use data to explain why parts can’t ship if they are non-conforming and ensuring corrections or deviations are completed
  • Ability to lead improvement teams
