JOB DESCRIPTION
This position will provide you with the responsibilities of:
- Working with customers to ensure pre-production quality requirements are understood and an internal plan is in place to manage quality standards of the product
- Providing quality performance data to shop floor and senior management employees – using the data to drive the continual improvement efforts
- Developing a strategic quality improvement plan and engaging all employees in quality improvement activities
- Working with the customers to ensure improvement efforts are addressing their biggest issues – continue to build the relationships
- Participating in the quoting process to ensure quality gauging and control plans are considered in the quote
- Managing the department budget, personnel and equipment needs
- Managing the ISO 9000:2001 quality system to ensure compliance through procedure updates, auditing and training
- Driving the corrective action process to ensure the short term issue is fixed and also drive long term systemic improvement – holding people accountable
- Providing training in quality systems for new and existing employees
- Overseeing day-to-day quality issues taking the appropriate corrective actions
- Develop and implement process control methods to improve capability
- Monitor and drive improvement with raw material suppliers
JOB REQUIREMENTS
An excellent candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
- Bachelors degree preferred
- At LEAST 5 years in a Quality Management role
- ASQ certification desired
- 3-5 years minimum experience in the paper converting, printing or film industry
- Ability to develop a long range plan, budgets, personnel needs and capital needs
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, ISO standards and SQF standards
- Previous experience working with a union
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to lead improvement teams
