Looking for a great opportunity to apply your supervisory skills with a growing company located in SE Minnesota? We are looking for an energetic supervisor with metal fab and welding experience that will take this department to the next level and potentially become the next Operations Manager.
JOB DESCRIPTION
This position reports to the Operations Manager and will provide you the responsibilities of;
- Leading a department of 25 people in a production welding operation
- Ensuring the quality is consistent by monitoring and adjusting the process to deal with variation
- Ensuring the schedule is met and making adjustments daily
- Changing the culture to one of continuous improvement and problem solving
- Teaching Operators how to monitor, adjust and verify process modifications
- Ensuring the department budget is being met and adjusting accordingly
- Monitoring metrics to demonstrate your department is achieving the production goals and sharing the metrics with the group
- Using process data to optimize the process and reduce rework and scrap
- Ensuring your equipment is running at optimal performance by scheduling periodic maintenance and adhering to the schedule
- Hiring and training new Operators – continually improving the skill level of the crew
- Ensuring all equipment is safeguarded and Operators are performing their work in a safe manor
- Following up with corrective actions on quality issues to implement the short term and permanent solution
JOB REQUIREMENTS
An excellent candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
- A minimum of 7-10 years’ experience supervising in a production welding operation
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Manufacturing Management preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- 3 years’ experience with production welding including robotics
- Ability to adhere to a production schedule, make changes based on issues and plan resources accordingly
- Experience apply lean principles and a passion for driving change
