Looking for a great opportunity to apply your mechanical engineering skills to design complex material handling systems for a growing manufacturing company in Northern WI? We are looking for an experienced mechanical engineer that is well versed in dynamic and static design analysis that can help upgrade the engineering tools and processes.
JOB DESCRIPTION
This position reports to the Engineering Manager and will provide you with the responsibilities of:
- Developing 3D designs using SolidWorks for custom material handling systems
- Performing structural and dynamic analysis to prove designs meet or exceed customer specifications including FEA and shock testing (DDAM)
- Specifying the testing requirements and overseeing the testing process
- Managing new development projects with cross functional teams from concept to production, reporting at various stage gates and ensuring all team members are completing assigned tasks per the project timeline
- Interfacing with the Controls Engineers to ensure the mechanical and electrical systems are working together
- Developing new systems using existing/common components that have been validated
- Ensuring the Engineering release documentation is processed and managing changes
- Working with Purchasing to help source new technology/components
- Working with manufacturing to ensure designs are easy to produce and all the requirements are clearly defined
- Providing technical service in the field to include diagnosing issues, working with customers to resolve application issues
- Developing technical proposals based on customer specs and regulatory body requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS
An excellent candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering highly desired, direct equivalent work experience acceptable
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Mechanical Design role or related position
- Experience with performing structural and dynamic FEA
- Previous experience designing products for the government
- Knowledge of the manufacturing and assembly process for the components used in your designs
- Excellent communication skills with varied personalities
- Must have previous experience with SolidWorks
- Willing to travel to customer and vendor locations (less than 20%)
