Design Engineer (mr1378)

Looking for an opportunity to be a key contributor for an industry leading company in the heavy off-road industry?  Our client is looking for an energetic Design Engineer with five to ten years experience designing large gear sets and gear boxes for heavy duty applications.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position reports to the Engineering Manager and will provide you with the responsibilities of:

• Working with customers to develop gear box designs from their specifications
• Working with operations to ensure the designs are able to be manufactured in cost effective manner while maintaining quality
• Managing new projects from concept to production and providing status reports
• Supporting the on-going improvements of existing products
• Working with customers, sales, and marketing to discuss the VOC and generating designs that will meet specific customer or market requirements
• Providing technical service in the field to include diagnosing issues, working with customers to resolve application issues, and tracking failure trends
• Working with sales to help develop quotes and estimating the numbers of hours each project will require

JOB REQUIREMENTS

An excellent candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
• MUST HAVE 5 – 10 years experience in a gear/transmission design role with large planetary and parallel axis gear sets
• MUST HAVE experience with developing speed reducing assemblies
• Excellent communication skills with varied personalities
• Capable of handling multiple projects with varying scope
• Previous experience with CAD software, ProE or AutoCAD preferred
• Willing to travel to customer and vendor locations (less than 10%)
