We are looking for a seasoned Manufacturing Engineering Manager with upward mobility that has experience leading Manufacturing/Process Engineers and taking the organization to a world class level!
JOB DESCRIPTION
This position reports to the Plant Manager.
- Managing the Process, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineers and ensuring shop floor support is immediate when issues arise, driving to root cause and implementing all levels of the corrective action
- Managing the new part introduction process and ensuring new parts and assemblies are properly routed along with all tooling required
- Developing, implementing and managing the plan for headcount and budget for the Manufacturing Engineering department
- Ensuring the plant layout is effective
- Working with and supporting the lean initiative to continually drive out waste and supporting Kaizen events
- Developing the strategy to continually improve the current manufacturing processes and generating a long range strategy to drive out waste
- Working with Quality to ensure PPAP’s are generated and processes are capable of consistently producing within specifications
- Ensuring changes to products are managed, updated prints are available and old inventory is accounted for
- Developing the long range capital plan including new equipment justification and refurbishment of current equipment
- Ensuring the group is continually looking for better ways to process parts, reduce scrap, improve quality, reduce set up time and improve overall plant processes
- Working with Manufacturing and Purchasing to implement new cost saving designs, components, and techniques
- Working with Quality to determine root cause and corrective action on issues from internal or external suppliers/customers
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering desired or equivalent work experience
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a machining environment
- A minimum a 5 years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineering management role or an Operations Management role
- Excellent blue print reading skills
- Strong familiarity with the processes and tooling for machining, preferably have experience machining gears
- Ability to work with a wide variety of individuals
- Familiar with ISO quality systems
- Proven experience applying lean principles (5S, kaizen, value stream mapping, etc.)
