Lean Manufacturing – Continuous Improvement Manager 

Looking for an opportunity to apply your lean experience with a growing manufacturing company located in Minnesota? We’re looking for a Continuous Improvement Manager to drive the lean program from the early stages and create a culture of continual waste reduction across the plant and office and become the next Director of Continuous Improvement in 2-3 years. 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

This position reports to the Director of Business Process Improvement and will provide you with the responsibilities of: 

  • Facilitating lean improvement teams across the plant – multiple teams at one time
  • Developing the long range strategy for the lean deployment in conjunction with department managers and manage the day-today task level projects
  • Evaluating the training needs for each functional area and developing a training plan
  • Teaching all employees OEE, TPM, SMED, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Continuous Flow, JIT, Kanban, Project Management, Cost Analysis and Process Capability Analysis
  • Developing processes and systems to ensure sustainability
  • Guiding the teams through Kaizen events and helping with project justification/ROI
  • Tracking and reporting team progress to the senior management team – teaching teams how to use the metrics
  • Assisting in the development of ‘future state” value streams and helping teams prioritize the tasks that need to be accomplished to get there
  • Becoming the “go to” person for all teams and providing support wherever needed 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

An excellent candidate will have the following skills and qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering required
  • 5 years minimum experience working in a manufacturing operations
  • 8 years minimum experience as a continuous improvement leader
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work with and teach a wide variety of individuals throughout the plant and office
  • Familiar with quality systems, six sigma problem solving techniques
  • Strong project management skills
  • Green belt or black belt preferred – not required
