Field Sales Manager – Gear Drives – Based in Southwest 

Looking for an opportunity to take a successful gear manufacturing company to the next level in sales by diversifying, getting into new markets and establishing presence in the Southwestern United states?  We are looking for a highly motivated person who can work out of a home office with a strong technical background in gear design/sales to increase sales in an underdeveloped market. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION 

This position will report to the VP of Sales and provide you with the responsibilities of:

  • Establishing new accounts, building relationships and growing business with existing accounts.
  • Helping customers solve their gearing issues by presenting technical solutions
  • Developing the strategy that will address growth into new markets and the details of how those markets will be penetrated and grown.
  • Providing the annual and long range forecast for the sales growth in your territory including the margins
  • Communicating with operations and Inside Sales to ensure capacity planning will keep up with the growth
  • Working closely with customers to understand their design and provide technical input for cost and quality improvements.
  • Managing the quote process and setting the margins accordingly – changing margins as raw material cost changes
  • Working with internal resources to ensure sales is being supported and customers are treated with a high sense of urgency
  • Communicating with customers on the status of their projects and helping to remove any obstacles 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

An excellent candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in a technical discipline desired, equivalent work experience acceptable
  • A Minimum of 5 years’ experience selling in the gear industry
  • A strong technical understanding of gear types, applications, manufacturing processes, tolerances and materials
  • Strong communication skills and ability to train technical people
  • Up to 75% travel may be required
