Electrical Engineer – Large Material Handling Equipment 

Looking for a great opportunity to apply your electrical engineering skills to design complex material handling systems for a growing manufacturing company in Northern, WI? We are looking for a high energy electrical engineer with SolidWorks experience that can take the control systems to the next level. 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

This position reports to the Engineering Manager and will provide you with the responsibilities of:

  • Developing standards and specific controls configurations for new equipment
  • Developing electrical system designs, creating schematics for the assembly and technical manuals
  • Develop the architecture of the control systems for automated types of equipment including PLC’s and variable frequency drives
  • Evaluating regulatory agency requirements, UL, ABS (American bureau of shipping), NEC,
  • Ensuring the BOM is accurate and all components are specified
  • Specifying and developing tests to prove the design meets specifications
  • Documenting test results
  • Working with Purchasing to source new components/technology
  • Executing and overseeing the installation of the control systems on all product lines
  • Selecting components for the new designs that have been tested or validates when possible
  • Analyzing and giving recommendations to help improve the manufacturing/assembly processes
  • Training or developing training for customer maintenance personnel in programming, operations and maintenance functions
  • Supporting the sales and customer service groups as needed, develop proposals and estimates
  • Supporting start up at the customer site 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

An excellent candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent direct work experience
  • A minimum of 5 years direct experience
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience designing products for the government, familiarity with regulations
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming and trouble shooting
  • Proficiency using SolidWorks required
  • 10% travel to customer and vendor sites, possibly international
  • US Citizen
